Membership Lifecycle
Understanding the lifecycle of a membership is critical for managing patients and their expectations. The following states represent the actual product behavior of a Zennor membership.
Membership States
Active
The membership is currently paid, and the patient has access to all included benefits, treatments, and discounts.
Pending Cancellation
A cancellation has been scheduled to occur at the end of the current billing cycle. The membership remains functionally Active until the billing cycle expires, at which point it becomes Cancelled.
Past Due / Payment Failed
If a recurring payment fails (e.g. due to insufficient funds or an expired card), Razorpay will attempt automatic retries according to your clinic's billing configuration. The membership remains active during the retry period. If all retries fail, the membership will ultimately expire.
Cancelled
The membership has been terminated, and all associated perks and included treatments are immediately revoked. This state occurs when:
- A clinic manually cancels a membership with immediate effect.
- A
Pending Cancellationmembership reaches the end of its billing cycle.
Expired
The membership's scheduled duration has ended (e.g., an annual plan completing its term), or a payment failed permanently. No further billing will occur.
Cancellation Behavior
Zennor supports two primary ways to cancel a membership from the Admin Portal:
- Immediate Cancellation: The membership ends instantly. Future billing is stopped, and the patient immediately loses access to perks.
- Cancel at Period End (Pending Cancellation): The membership remains active until the current paid billing cycle finishes, at which point it transitions to Cancelled.
Note on Patient App: Patients cannot currently cancel their own memberships directly from the Patient App. All cancellation requests must be processed by clinic staff via the Admin Portal to ensure proper offboarding.
